Welcome to the Be Festive project website!Our mission is to bring together Mediterranean cultures through the vibrant and rich traditions of local festivals. Join us in exploring the beauty of cultural diversity and the power of shared experiences through festivity!Traditional festivities serve as an ideal platform in order to achieve multiple targets towards the goals of inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities.The reason we chose to focus on traditional festivities in order to tackle the issue of youth participation and civic engagement is that traditional festivities, by nature, are open to all members of a community, making them an accessible point of entry for youth engagement, including those from marginalized backgrounds.They also take place often in rural areas, where youths have fewer opportunities.We want to leverage the cultural celebrations to educational opportunities for youth where they can acquire new skills (organizational, communicative, technical, and artistic) in a real-world context.
Be Festive Project
Be Festive aims to explore traditional cultural festivities across Mediterranean countries as a platform to enhance youth participation and raise awareness for the importance of in-tangible cultural heritage.Be Festive is a 24-month project, co-funded by the ERASMUS-YOUTH-2023-CB of the European Union.The specific objectives of the project are:• Develop a cultural map and educational resources that serve as tools for promoting diversity and inclusion.
• Equip youth workers with an educational toolkit to promote preservation of cultural heritage, cultural sensitivity, inclusivity, and the role of traditional festivities.
• Provide young people and youth workers with immersive experiences in traditional festivities to foster a deep understanding of diverse cultures and active engagement.
• Raise awareness and foster a network of culturally aware youth workers capable of leading initiatives that promote diversity and inclusion.
